Academia della Danza/Revel in a Rathaus
Miltenberg am Main, Germany

The right noble coronet of the Ancient lands of Knights Crossing has declared that their subjects, noble in their demeanour, should learn the ancient art of dance, that they may better grace their court with knowledge of this gentler art. To this effect, they have hired sundry dance masters from lands far and wide to come and provide instruction.

For one weekend, their holding, the 14th century Rathaus of Miltenberg, shall play host to a school of dance, known in the tongue of more refined courts as an academia della danza. In addition to learning, there shall be terpsichorean revels and a ball as no one has seen in many years. Come one and all to partake!
You do not care to dance? No problem! We need dissolute gamblers, hecklers and drunkards to add that extra level of authenticity to the proceedings.
Classes:
Classes will begin at 8 pm on Friday evening. There will be two tracks of classes, to suit all needs and tastes: a beginner track, and an intermediate/advanced track. At least one class will be offered specifically for children.
Children’s activities: There will be organized children’s activities, but all parents are expected to take a turn leading one activity and overseeing the children’s area. More details to come.
Ball/Revel:
There will be a formal ball on Saturday evening following feast, which will be a reconstruction of a ball chronicled in Ulm in 1503. After this, there will be a reconstruction of a drunken revel wedding revel from 15th c. Germany! Music will be provided by the one and only Gaita, a professional ensemble hailing from Edinburgh.
Tavern: There will be a tavern serving beverages of various types, to keep people hydrated in a manner appropriate to their individual activities. There shall also be games of chance available for those who have coin of the realm to burn.

Food:
There will be a hearty stew provided Friday evening, breakfast, lunch and feast on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday.
Sleeping arrangements:
There is crash space (no bedding) in the halls (completely climate controlled), and in the foyers. For those crashing in the halls, bedding must stored away during the day as these are the same two halls in which we will be dancing. Otherwise, Miltenberg a charming little medieval town with numerous reasonably priced inns (reasonable = 30-90 EUR for a double room per night), several of which are located on the same street as the Rathaus. More details to follow.
