DAY OF CLASSES, NIGHT OF REVELRY –
NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED – NO PARTNER NECESSARY

We have several full tracks of both Middle Eastern and European
classes, with teachers from Meridies (including Her Royal Majesty
Deirdre), as well as dance teachers from other Kingdoms.

Their Royal Majesties Boru and Deirdre will hold court in the
Ballroom of the beautiful 19th C Victorian Maple Street Mansion
before the evening's dancing commences.
(http://ballroom.bobsmansion.com/) The European Revel will follow in
the Ballroom, with the Hafla in a nearby room of this grand old home.

Saltare is the annual dance collegium held by the Meridian Dance
Guild, called Saltare, once a year with the help and support of a
local group in Meridies (the hosting group changes every year). You
do not need to be a member of Saltare or be a good dancer to come to
the event, all that is required is an interest in the main social
activity of medieval and renaissance life: dance.

Sample of scheduled classes:
Dancing for Fighters (the footwork and balance you learn on the dance
floor gives you an advantage on the fighting field!)
English Country Dance (there's more to it than just Hole in the
Wall!!)
Line and circle dances
Buffins (a choreographed fight to music, done with sticks)
Bransles
16th C Italian
Introduction to Music Theory for the Dancer
Dance documentation for A&S and translating Italian dance manuals

Middle Eastern classes to be posted soon!

A practice room for musicians planning to play for the evening's
dancing (practice times for European and Middle Eastern will be
posted in the schedule) will be available throughout the day.

This is an excellent first event for newcomers. Bring your friends!

I look forward to see you,

Lady Peryn Rose Whytehorse
Proctor, Saltare
Dance Marshal in Charge
