<div>For those not on the AE list, I thought I'd forward this email about Ice Dragon. In addition to the annual A&S competition, they are also having an essay competition on the theme of newcomer to seasoned veteran which sounds interesting.

<br>Dragon 2007! This contest is geared to helping newcomers who may be having<br>a hard time getting started in the SCA. So what we what are people who have<br>been in the society for at least five years to write about how it was to
<br>evolve from a newcomer to the seasoned person they are now. There will be<br>prizes for the top three voted by the populace, one of which is cash.<br><br><br>Here are the rules:<br><br><br>1) Entrants must be adults having been in society for five years or
<br>more.<br><br>2) Entrants must have been new comers to the society and not children<br>of established society members.<br><br>3) Essay must consist of one hundred words or more describing your<br>first learning years on how you felt and what it did to mold you into the
<br>person you are today.<br><br>4) Essay should be submitted unsigned and cannot include proper names<br>or locations to keep it anonymous.<br><br>5) Essays will be displayed in the main hall with an entry number for
<br>people to vote by.<br><br>6) Essays will be voted on by the general populace and judging will<br>take place before the pirate auction.<br><br>7) Names of the essay authors will be revealed after the votes are
<br>counted.<br><br>8) Suggested essay titles are:<br><br>A) "Boy was I green, but look at me now"<br><br><br><br>B) "From newcomer to seasoned scadian, my first five years"<br><br><br><br>
9) Sorry no proxy submissions, entrants must be present to receive<br>their prize.<br><br><br><br>Material in the essays will become the property of the Seneschal and may be<br>used to form a new pamphlet to better help newcomers ease into society and
<br>help them know we have all been in their shoes before. Whether you enter or<br>not, reading them will help the rest of us remember what it was like too.<br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br> </div>
