[SCA-BMDL] Youth Participation at QRC / Baronial Birthday this weekend

Greetings to the children of the Barony and their parents!

As you probably know, this Saturday, the Barony-Marche of the Debatable Lands is hosting the Queen's Rapier Champion Tourney and Baronial Birthday The site is the Unitarian Universalist Church of the North Hills on West Ingomar Rd. in Franklin Park. The site opens at 9am.

Along with the excitement of choosing the Queen's Rapier Champion, this event will have a theme of "mentoring." One of our goals is to encourage participation by youths and children in all aspects of the Society.

Therefore, all kids at this event will have the opportunity to receive ribbons for participating in various activities. You can acquire ribbons in the following ways:

- Participate in a marshal activity, like thrown weapons or youth combat, to receive a RED ribbon. Note that youth fighters must be authorized to compete in the tournament, but any interested kids age 6 and up can try youth fighting. Loaner
- Provide a service, like helping move equipment, work in the kitchen (with the cook's permission), serve the feast, be a list runner for the adult fighting, clean up after an activity, or otherwise lend a hand running the event to receive a GOLD ribbon.
- Participate in the arts, by bringing an entry for the Arts and Sciences competition or by making a BMDL belt favor during the class being offered at the event to receive a BLUE ribbon.

Kids who acquire ribbons will be recognized by the Baron and Baroness in court. Court starts at 4pm.

Please encourage your kids to participate!
