I have been a part of great events:
I revelled in little celebrations;
I came home safe from many wars;
I have at Pennsic seen a shooting star;
I have there lusted for a cache of jewels;
I smiled each year at neverthrivings of jugglers;
I cast dazzled eyes on  banners of knights;
I marvelled at bevies of ladies;
I have read of tourneys in a book;
I have heard a song of the beginning;
I have been a wight in garb for thirty years...

And yet the Siege of Harlech Castle
The thirtieth day of May
A. S. XLIV
Was fresh and new and wonderful
As are the lines of Taliessin
Each time they echo in my heart.
