[SCA-BMDL] Website Privacy Policy

Greetings from the Webminister!

I have recently rediscovered the joy of perusing the SCA and Kingdom
electronic privacy policies. In order to keep our Baronial website in line
with SCA requirements, no personal information can be published without
written consent from the individual. "Personal information" includes:
* Mundane name, mailing address, and telephone number(s)
* Personal email addresses (not counting "role" email addresses such as
webminister at debatablelands.org)

I will soon be contacting various guild contacts listed on the Baronial web
site to reaffirm their permission to have personal email addresses listed.

However the real point of this email is for potential event autocrats. As
you know, kingdom policy requires that the private information of (usually)
multiple individuals be published in the event announcement in the Aestel
(which is a print publication, not electronic). Autocrats typically send
the same event announcement to me for publication on the BMDL web site.
However, the privacy policy dictates that none of this personal information
can be published without written permission from all of the individuals in
question. Given that, I would like to ask that, henceforth, autocrats
seeking to have their event announcements published on the website do one of
the following:

** Remove any personal information from the announcement (I can also do this
for you) --OR--
** Contact all individuals whose personal information is included in the
announcement, *in advance*, and have them send permission to publish their
information *in writing* to the webminister. Email is acceptable. Verbal
permission, unfortunately, is not acceptable.

The personal information of any individuals who do not grant their *written*
permission will have said information removed from the event announcement
before publication.

I will also publish this request on the Baronial web site in the Event
Policies section.

In Service,
Clemente de Warrewyk
Baronial File Clerk ... er ... Webminister
