[SCA-BMDL] In Memory of Anna of Kiev

Just my two cents... and I speak with somewhat more liberty than a might otherwise since I am told that Baron Leonard doesn't read this list.

I know how frustrating it is to want to do something to help Leonard NOW and not know what would be best. I would counsel patience.

He has a lot of logistics to deal with right now, and it sounds like he has neighbors, friends and perhaps family to help him out. In a few more days or a week he may be able to step back a bit and come up with suggestions for how we can honor Baroness Anna and assist him. Determining his wishes first would be better than jumping to do something, *anything*, now, because we all want to so badly.

This week there will be a lot of people reaching out to him. In days to come, that support may fade to a trickle. That is when he will need help the most.

In the long run the most important thing we can do for Len is to be there for him, day after day, week after week, month after month. If you have been close to him, call him up and invite him to come over. Offer him assistance, companionship, and compassion. Let him bring up the topic of Anna first, and then if he wants to talk, let him do so and don't worry that it makes him sad. Give him space to be alone in his grief, but try not to let him get too lonely. It's a high-wire balancing act, and we will frequently fail, but let's make the attempt anyway. Don't just wait for the opportunities to come - make some opportunities where it seems not to be too untrusive.

My apologies if this offends anyone, especially those who know Leonard better than I do. I am only trying to speak from my own experiences and help those who are at a loss as to how to let Len know how much we all love him.

Arianna
