 ...On Sunday, March 12th, the day after the Donnan Party, practice is cancelled at
the Sarah Heinz House due to another gymnastics meet. As promised, I will be holding a sewing
day for anyone who wants to come and make a doublet or something else.

I have reserved a space at the William Pitt Union (the same place where the
Donnan Party is being held) from 2:30 pm until 10 pm: Dining Room A - take the elevator to the 1st
floor, turn towards the 5th Avenue side of the building. The room will be on your right.

I will be bringing a punch tester, a variety of sewing supplies, and patterns
for 1) a basic doublet, 2) knee-length "poofy" pants, and 3) a fighting cape. A document has
been placed in the Files section of YahooGroups which indicates yardages of fabric and other
materials necessary to make these items. In addition to materials for making one of these items,
attendees should also bring a pair of scissors, straight pins, a sewing machine, and an extension
cord. I will also be bringing an extra machine for anyone who doesn't have one - any other extra
sewing machines that people could bring would probably get put to good use.

This will not be a formal class, and I will not be lecturing on any subject.
Rather, the aim is to have a productive, fun day of garb making and socializing, and to provide an
opportunity for some individualized, hands-on "tutoring" for people who may be inexperienced
sewers. I will make myself available for as little or as much help as people desire, and hopefully
at the end of the day, everyone will be taking home a new, finished or close-to-finished piece of
garb, a pattern that fits you, and some new skills that you can put to use on your own later on.

This weekend happens to fall at the end of my spring break, so I will be
available for "fabric consultation" earlier in the week (i.e., a shopping expedition). I also have
two extra Jo-Anne's 40% coupons for the first taker(s), and I have been informed that the
Jo-Anne's at the Waterworks is going out of business and has much fabric on sale right now.

I would also like to request that anyone who wants to come please RSVP sometime
within the next week and let me know what you think you might be making. This will help me
better plan what to bring and prepare for.
