Hi All,
1. Your next homework is online. (I put it online Monday, but forgot to
notify you.) It is due Wednesday one week from today as usual. The
last question can be solved with no knowledge of stochastic calculus.
It is only there because it is what leads to the Black-Scholes
formula, which I will do in class on Monday.
2. Your midterm is now graded, and will be unmuted on Canvas shortly.
You can convert your midterm score to a "grade point" (a number
between 0 and 4.5) using the table at the bottom of this email. This
number will be averaged with your final / homework scores (by the
formula on the website), and converted to a letter grade using the
standard scale without rounding (i.e. 4.0 = A, and 3.99 = A-).
Here was the class distribution:
Score Grade Number of students
A+ 9
A 13
A- 32
B+ 13
B 6
B- 9
C+ 5
C 5
C- 4
D+ 2
D 1
R 1
I'm happy to see many people do well. Well done!
Note an "A-" on this exam was 19. This means if you did the first
four questions with at most one very minor mistake, you can get an
A-. An "A" was 21 points, meaning that in order to get an A you would
also need to make some progress on the last question. To get any
partial credit at all on this question, you would need to have the
right idea and at least make some progress in the right direction.
3. If you believe part of your exam has been graded incorrectly, here is
the policy on regrading exams stated on the class website:
* Your graded exams will be available in the MSCF office on your
campus. You may view them in the office. However if you take them
out of the office you may not request regrading of any problems.
* If you believe a particular question has been graded incorrectly,
then please leave a post-it note on the front of the exam
indicating which question you want re-graded, and tell
Jessica/Diffy. Please do **NOT** include any explanation or message.
Your grade will be solely based on our interpretation of what is
written on the exam, and not on any explanation you provide
outside the exam.
* We will cover up the grade, and independently regrade the
requested question. The new grade will replace your old grade,
EVEN IF IT IS LOWER. I strongly recommend you read and understand
the solutions posted online before requesting a regrade, because
YOUR GRADE COULD BECOME LOWER.
Have a nice break and see you Monday.
