ACL inheritance in Shared Namespace

I came across this the other day when I wanted to enable mailbox sharing by just sharing the INBOX, but have inheritance take care of the rest; it doesn't work that way. In RFC 4314, the only mention of inheritance is when creating a new mailbox:
"
Mailbox management:
CREATE - "k" right on a nearest existing parent mailbox. When a
new mailbox is created, it SHOULD inherit the ACL from the parent
mailbox (if one exists) in the defined hierarchy.
