sync_client segmentation fault

cyrus-imapd-2.3.x is an old version of cyrus, there where many bugfixes,
some regarding replication. You should consider updatig to 2.4.x

I don't think these combination of options make sense.
IHMO -u truus will replicate all data for the user truus once
-r will start rolling replication. Reading the information what
to do from sync.log and keep going till sync_client is stopped or,
connection to syncserver is lost

That will only help if the binary of sync_client is corrupt.
You can try to run strace / gdb to find the place where sync_client crashes
