>From my experience Outlook really works best with Exchange as mailstore - as IMAP client it's more or less lacking. I have to admit I don't really have experience on 2013. For IMAP there are better alternatives, even from Microsoft, like Live mail.

I tend to try it now and then, get frustrated in the end and just choose another MUA.
