Sync_client fails after upgrade 2.3.16 to 2.4.4

Dear All

I attempted to upgrade Cyrus- IMAP from 2.3.16 to 2.4.4 but encountered 
major errors with the replication process and had to revert to 2.3.16

The sync_client and syncserver were both upgraded at the same time.

I did a full reconstruct of both sync_client and syncserver.

Errors were of the type

Nov 27 14:40:09 brooks sync_client[9652]: CRC failure on sync for 
user.USER1.Conny.EHPS.Strawberry Fair, trying full update
Nov 27 14:40:10 brooks sync_client[9652]: MAILBOX received NO response: 
IMAP_MAILBOX_CRC Checksum Failure
Nov 27 14:40:10 brooks sync_client[9652]: do_folders(): update failed: 
user.USER1.Conny.EHPS.Strawberry Fair 'Mailbox format corruption detected'
Nov 27 14:40:10 brooks sync_client[9652]: IOERROR: Mailbox format 
corruption detected
Nov 27 14:40:10 brooks sync_client[9652]: Error in do_sync(): bailing 
out! Mailbox format corruption detected
Nov 27 14:40:10 brooks sync_client[9652]: Processing sync log file 
/common/imap/sync/log-9651 failed: Mailbox format corruption detected
Nov 27 14:40:10 brooks sync_client[9651]: process 9652 exited, status 1

So I would run reconstruct -s user.USER1 and then restart the 
sync_client but the error would occur on another mailbox of the same user.

The errors were occurring on multiple user mailboxes - the one 
characteristic I noticed the errors were not on the INBOX but sub 
folders but not all of them.

After about 2 hours I gave up and reverted both client and server to 2.3.16.
