IMAPD "Authentication failed. generic failure"

It's been a while since I compiled my own Cyrus SASL, but when I did, I 
used to need a symlink:

  ln -s /usr/local/lib/sasl2 /usr/lib/sasl2

Give it a try, and if it doesn't work, provide your imapd.conf.
