What does 'reconstruct' via IMAP actually do?

It's installed at the same location as all the other cyrus binaries,  
in /usr/bin/cyrus/bin/reconstruct
Is that what happens when you issue RECONSTRUCT over IMAP? it calls  
the binary server-side?
