IMAP command SELECT failed ?

I did a search of the archive, and didn't come up with anything 
relevant.  I've also been unable to find anything helpful using 
google.. so..

I've just installed cyrus-imapd-2.2.12 on FreeBSD 4.10-STABLE.  My 
client connects to the server results in the error message from my 
client (OSX Mail 1.3.9)   'IMAP command "SELECT" failed.'  I'm not 
getting anything useful in my imapd.log, but I'll paste from it below 
anyway.

I'm not really sure where to go with troubleshooting this.. I'm used to 
being able to at least find some hints online. :)

My configure line for imapd is thus:

./configure --sysconfdir=/usr/local/etc 
--with-cyrus-prefix=/usr/local/cyrus --with-cyrus-user=cyrus 
--with-cyrus-group=cyrus --with-sasl=/usr/local 
--with-bdb-libdir=/usr/local/lib --with-com_err --with-openssl 
--with-perl --with-bdb-incdir=/usr/local/include/db4 --with-bdb=db4

And entries in my imapd.log for a new login look like this:

Does anyone have any suggestions for where to look to start 
troubleshooting this?  Any RTFMs to send my way?
