lmtpd bug?

I've done some tests with lmtp.
Using telnet from Windows 98 or OpenVMS, sometimes I get the following
error: "*** glibc detected *** double free or corruption (out)" on the
console or even in the telnet session.
I haven't been able to reproduce this from Linux.

In imap.log 
master[1841]: process 1902 exited, signaled to death by 6
master[1841]: service lmtp pid 1902 in BUSY state: terminated abnormally

The "message" (it has no body) arrives normally in the mailbox.
