well, autoconf --version pulls 2.13, but that's not what you want, because 
iirc configure.in has an AC_PREREQ which makes autconf (secretly a script 
which figures out which of several versions you want) pick a version.

it requires 2.54, and we have 2.57

automake, 1.7 (though only sasl and not cyrus imapd care)
