Exporting mail from the cyrus spool for archiving

I'm trying to figure out a good way to archive old mail. This server just stores backup copies of email, it's backed up on a 7 day rotating cycle. Every month I want to flush the backup accounts and archive all the old messages in a manner that's easy to search and attachments are still available. I've got the flushing part figured out, it's just exporting the mail for archiving to a good format based on the criteria above that I'm not sure about. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
