all processes fail with signal 9

I have been unable to put any work in on this for a while, but have just got back to 
it.  truss identified the problem - failing to find the SASL library!

With version 2.1.13 I was using --with-sasl=/usr/local/lib and that was OK.

With version 2.2.3 the option caused it to look for /usr/local/lib/lib/libsasl2.so.2 
(note lib/lib in there).  I changed it to --with-sasl=/usr/local and now it looks 
for /usr/local//lib/libsasl2.so.2 (note the // in there) which works.

So, SIGKILL can come from inside!
