Cyrus Startup Problems

Hello,

I am building Cyrus on a RedHat Alpha Linux system.  The build seems to go 
just fine and master starts.  But, telneting to port 143 gets a connection 
with no server response---the telnet session just hangs.  Looks like Cyrus 
is listening and not responding.  What I am seeing in /var/log/imapd.log 
are entries like:

Mar 24 11:02:49 skunk master[18231]: about to exec /usr/cyrus/bin/imapd
Mar 24 11:02:49 skunk master[8681]: process 18231 exited, status 127
Mar 24 11:02:49 skunk master[8681]: service imap pid 18231 in READY state: 
terminated abnormally
Mar 24 11:02:49 skunk master[18232]: about to exec /usr/cyrus/bin/imapd
Mar 24 11:02:49 skunk master[8681]: process 18232 exited, status 127
Mar 24 11:02:49 skunk master[8681]: service imap pid 18232 in READY state: 
terminated abnormally
Mar 24 11:02:49 skunk master[18233]: about to exec /usr/cyrus/bin/imapd
Mar 24 11:02:49 skunk master[8681]: process 18233 exited, status 127
Mar 24 11:02:49 skunk master[8681]: service imap pid 18233 in READY state: 
terminated abnormally

I am not really sure what to look at next and would appreciate any 
suggestions.  Oh, yes, I am using cyrus-imapd-2.2.3 and cyrus-sasl-2.1.17.
