You don't have to create the 'mailsystem' user, as it doesn't need to 
correspond to an actual user.  In fact if you don't set 'postuser' the 
post address is just +<mailbox>

There is an autocreate/autosubscribe patch which has been discussed 
elsewhere on the list.

I have know idea.  It was never *designed* to work that way.
