LMTP ownership?

Since you're using my cyrus-imapd rpms and I guess you are using the
postfix from RH9, permission should not be a problem here. I think your
problem is that postfix lmtp runs chrooted. Maybe you just to change
this in master.cf so postfix/lmtp doesn't run chrooted:
