Huh?  This means you are sending everything as a literal.  The charclass
checks are there to use the simplest format possible for transmitting a
string.

Or are you arguing we should just transmit everything as a literal (which
is probably fine on servers that support LITERAL+ but is a terrible idea
on servers which do not)?
