cyrus with qmail problem

Sure.  Try postfix 2.0.6 + Cyrus 2.1 instead.  Works like a speed-freak on
steroids...

Now, if you really must remain using deprecated Cyrus versions, and (yuck)
qmail (bleargh), then try using truss/strace on qmail, and check out what it
is trying to open that is giving you permission errors.
