Since the libraries are already loaded, I don't find this too surprising.
It also seems to indicate that the problem is somewhere in libsasl itself.

Of course, I'm curious why you don't just use SASL 2.1.15.  I don't think
its worth spending time tracking down a bug in older SASL versions just
to find we've already solved it (something we already know).
