disable logging

thanks. but now i got it logging to /var/log/auth.log AND /var/log/messages - 
there is an entry in syslog.conf:

# save the rest in one file
*.*;mail.none;news.none         -/var/log/messages

the *.* is doing it, right? but if i remove it, am i loosing some important 
logging entries?
