Replace IMAP with different version

??? Why downgrade?

Also, are you sure you're not thinking of Cyrus SASL? 

I think you should tell us the problem before trying to downgrade, it
looks like your moving into a mess.

PS: Whatever you do use checkinstall so you may keep some controll of
your system!
