Hi we are looking at moving our 20,000 users from courier imap to cyrus.
We have done a test installation on a new hi spec server using redhat 9.
We copied the users mail across by firstly using the IMAP::Admin perl
module to create their folder structure and then using our own perl
script to copy all their files into the folder, renaming the files
numerically starting at 1 each time for each folder.

It all seems to work but the first time you connect it takes a hugely
long time to download your folders (a few hours) after which you can
connect from any client anywhere and all works well, very quick. We have
a perl script which do a reconstruct on each mailbox after we have
created them so I am not sure what the problem is. Why is there such a
long delay when you first connect. I think the server must be doing some
sort of indexing or something.

Any ideas or thoughts gratefully accepted.
