Dots in usernames and sub mailboxes ?

Hi all

New to cyrus so I apologize if the 2 questions here are basic but I cant
find the answers anywhere.

1) dots in user names is this possible. Not a problem if not. Example:
me.user at domain.com

2) 3 users want separate mailboxes. Can I add a password protected dir
under the main catchall account for these users?
Example: users.main = main catchall
	   users.main.user1 = mailbox only for user1 at domain.com password
user1
	   users.main.user2 = mailbox only for user2 at domain.com password
user2
	   users.main.user3 = mailbox only for user3 at domain.com password
user3

I am using FreeBSD, cyrus, postfix and saslpasswd2

Any information, doc links or examples would be most appreciated.
