Mutual incompatibilities?

Hi,
I am currently running IMSP v1.6a2, sasl v1.x, and a commercial IMAP
server that is no longer supportewd by its vender (SMS). I want to
replace that server with the latest and greatest CMU server but find
myself lost in a quagmire of at least apparent incompatibilities. The
iIMAP v2.1.9 server requires SASL v2.x, and SASL 2.x is incompatible
with SASL v1.x. The CMU IMSP server is incompatible with with SASL
v2.x, and it appears that switching to ACAP does not solve the problem.
Also, I don't want to loose my LDAP pass-thru for the site-wide
directory.
Though it would be a real kludge, is there someway to keep the v1 and
v2 SASL databases in sync. Also, I would really like to take advantage
of v2's ability to do plaintext authentication via LDAP, and how can I
keep that whole mess in sync? (or does anyone have a patch to the IMSP
server to make it work with SASL v2?)
Thanks,
Rob
