Can't start Cyrus (was Binding Cyrus to Listen on one IP)

Thanks to all that pointed out that the brackets were optional.
I guess I misunderstood
where path is the explicit path to a UNIX socket,
host is either the hostname or bracket-enclosed IP
address
To mean that the brackets are only there if it's an IP and not a
hostname you're going to use. In my case, I'd been using brackets
because I haven't assigned a hostname to that IP yet.
It would seem that perhaps this in fact isn't my problem, as I've set
them all to the original install values and still can't start master. I
still fail with
"master[57965]: unable to find command or port for "
I can't find any info on this one, what does it mean (it's rather bland
for an error message)
