I honestly couldn't tell you anymore.  Potentially I was looking at an ancient
copy of the documentation.  I lost the plot a while ago, googling madly trying
to work out WHY WHY WHY cyradm on one machine insists on looking for mailboxes
in /usr/cyrus/bin and refuses to be told otherwise.  That problem is suspected
to be a mangled OS/compiler setup, since it works fine on other machines using
the same configure arguments and config files.

Ah well.  In that case, the exim documentation is fine, but it also works in
exim 3, just use the smtp driver and toggle the protocol to be lmtp.
