Dear DANCE partners,
We would like to remind you that THIS FRIDAY we are going to host an online tutorial introducing the Bazaar conversational agent framework. The tutorial will provide you with all the information necessary to build you own conversational agents and use it in synchronous online chat environments for you own studies.

The event will consist of two sessions.
Between 9.00am and 11.30am EDT, we are going to have a lecture-style session that gives an overview of the technology and its capabilities. This session will be broadcast in a "hangout on air" and will be available to watch later as a recording.

In a second session starting at 1.30pm EDT, we are going to have a Q&A session and the hands-on part of the tutorial where you are going to build your own agent. This session will be broadcast in a regular hangout so you can participate online, but it won’t be recorded.
In order to participate in the hands-on activities, you should have Java 7+ installed on your machine along with a Java IDE (we recommend eclipse) and access to a mysql server.

You can find a link to the hangout on air for the lecture-style session and the hangout for the hands-on session as well as an agenda and more information about bazaar on the following website:

The next regular DANCE talk will be held on June 9. Riaz Moola from HyperionDev is going to talk about "A MOOC for programmers in the developing world". More details about this talk will follow later in May.

We hope to see many of you at the tutorial and our next talks.

Oliver and Carolyn
