yes i now saslauthd can auth on ldap, my previous mail server was based on
saslauthd ldap module. I choose pam_ldap for mainly three reasons: 1. i
use dovecot as the pop/imap server and it can't to ldap/tls (patch sent,
never replied), 2. i like the idea of being able to mix local users and
ldap virtual users transparently and 3. i like the idea of a single piece
of software provinding an unified auth to the whole system.
