I was unable to reproduce what I perceived was a working IDLE
functionality on the other IMAP servers (one was Dovecot, the other I
could not identify) using the broken configuration or via openssl s_client.

Might be that only a mix of chance and timings made it seem that my
IDLE tests on the other servers were succeeding.
