As far as I know only the mulberry client supports it.  And almost  
nobody uses it.  Before some years it was even proprietary software.

In my case I have hacked saslauthd to support shared mailboxes.

This is how we implement 'shared mailboxes': a shared mailbox has one  
login (e.g. mybox) but a number of users can log in with his own  
personal password.  In ldap we associate a list  of logins with the  
shared mailbox.  When the user logs in, saslauthd goes over that list  
and tries to verify the password for every login.

(I'm not sure if I explained it clearly enough.)
