P-IMAP is not a standard, but a working document which served as input
to LEMONADE WG (http://www.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/lemonade/current/msg02980.html)

The standard for in-band notification is IMAP NOTIFY (RFC 5465) that
is richer than IMAP IDLE
All notifications mechanisms are discribed in RFC 5551.
We've developed a mechanism to provide out-of-band notification in
Cyrus (https://bugzilla.cyrusimap.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3605). I still
need to translate internal cyrus mailboxes to external to end this
patch. We are (at Atos Worldline) busy by some other developments for
next few months but I hope we will also provide support of IMAP
NOTIFY, may be for Cyrus 2.6
