SQL auxpropfunc error no mechanism available

I hope I've found the correct list server

Package mix:

web-cyradm-svn-0.5.5
openSuSE 10.2
apache2-2.2.3
mysql-5.0.26
php5-5.2.0

I hope someone is able to help me :-) WebCyrAdm successfully logs into
cyradm and creates Cyrus-IMAP email accounts using MySQL lookups. But
telnetting into the email accounts with either SquirrelMail, Evolution
or telnetting fails with the following:

I have:

sasl_pwcheck_method: saslauthd
sasl_mech_list: plain login

in both /etc/imapd.conf and /etc/imapd-local.conf, and:

/usr/sbin/testsaslauthd -u name at domain.c0m -p pa55word

returns:

0: OK "Success."

which seems to indicate that auth'ing is successful.

Any insight/advise as to where I may be going wrong will be appreciated.
