strange quota IOERRORs

Hello,

we have a hungry mailserver which is outputing quota IOERRORs every night.

Here are some details about the setup:
Intel Celeron 900 mhz, 384 mb ram
cyrus-imapd 2.2.12, db3 3.2.9

A "mon" script generates an email every two minutes for the "cyrus" user
to test if the mailserver is still up and running.
We purge the mailbox using "ipurge" every ten minutes.

Every 15 minutes we read out the quota of all users via "quota -f"
for external processing, though we skip the "cyrus" user.

During times when the machine is busy, I see error messages like this:

Jan 16 09:30:01 mail quota[3973]: IOERROR: unlinking /var/imap/quota/c/user.cyrus.NEW: No such file or directory
Jan 16 09:30:01 mail quota[3973]: IOERROR: committing quota: No such file or directory
Jan 16 10:30:00 mail quota[27475]: IOERROR: unlinking /var/imap/quota/c/user.cyrus.NEW: No such file or directory
Jan 16 10:30:00 mail quota[27475]: IOERROR: committing quota: No such file or directory
Jan 16 13:30:00 mail quota[9557]: IOERROR: unlinking /var/imap/quota/c/user.cyrus.NEW: No such file or directory

What could be the cause of this?
Perhaps a possible problem with the locking in the quota code?
