Hello Ballroom Friends,

Thank you for showing up for RUSH this week! We loved seeing you there and
look forward to seeing you again for part 2 this week!

You may have heard us discuss our upcoming home competition, CARNEGIE
CLASSIC. Dancers will be coming from all over to compete right here at CMU,
and we’re super excited to make it the best comp ever! We’ve channeled a
lot of time and resources to make this a big event – are you ready to get
hyped and join the fun? Read on for details about how YOU can sign-up to
compete AND volunteer at this once a year experience.

Also, you may have noticed we’re implementing a new attendance method.
Read-on for an explanation on how you can win points and prizes by filling
out a google form!

News

Carnegie Classic:

   1.

   Compete: Whether you’re brand new joining us from rush, or an
   experienced dancer who’s been with us for years, we want YOU to sign-up for
   Carnegie Classic! Even if you don’t have a partner, we’ll have a robust TBA
   system to match you with someone to dance with. Never competed before? Then
   this is the BEST time to start. Sign-up for the newcomer level, compete
   right here in your home ballroom, and enjoy a first-timer discount just for

   Volunteer: We need lots of volunteers! Please try to sign-up for at
   least one thing. Jobs vary in time commitment and effort, so you should be
   able to pick something that works with your schedule. Fill out the form

   Host: In order to make CC accessible for more people, we want to offer
   housing options. If you have a floor or a couch you’d be willing to let
   folks sleep on for the weekend, it could make a big difference for someone
   traveling from out of state. If you’re interested, please fill out this

Attendance:

Hopefully, you’re familiar with checking in by the door when you show up
for lessons. From now on, you’ll sign-in for lesson attendance using this
google form

and when you do, you’ll win POINTS! Points will enter you into a raffle to
win special prizes at the end of the semester. You also win points when you
pay your lesson dues. I’ll attach the form at the end of this email in the
“resources” section every week, too, so if you forget to sign-in or want to
do so in advance, you can fill it out whenever you think of it!

Mock Comp[Action Required 1/24]

Dip your toes in the water of ballroom competitions by entering our low
stakes, very fun mock comp! Mock comp works just like a normal competition,
except it’s free, local, and designed especially as an
introductory/practice experience. Officers and volunteers will walk you
through every step of the competition process, offer you feedback (if you’d
like), and of course, cheer you on!

Mock comp will be held on January 28th.  Please fill out this form to
