Hello Ballroom Friends,

WE’RE SO EXCITED FOR CARNEGIE CLASSIC!! See you this weekend!

Please don’t forget to sign up :^) Remember there’s a newcomer category
with a special discount, and if you don’t have a partner, you can sign up
TBA and we’ll match you with someone there.

And whether or not you’re competing, definitely come to the Starlit
Soiree dance
social Friday night (the 9th) from 7 - 10pm!

News

Starlit Soiree:

Free to Carnegie Classic competitors (or otherwise, $10 for students, $20
for non-students), come enjoy a magical night of dancing! This social will
be extra special, because dancers from all over will be there! 7 - 10pm in
Rangos!

Valentine’s Social:

Bring your Valentines and Gal-entines (friend-entines?) to Simmons
Auditorium in Tepper next Friday, the 16th at 7pm! We’ll teach a hustle
lesson and a swing lesson and dance ‘til late in the night (10pm). There
shall also be some Valentine’s snacks/treats to enjoy!

Reminder Details

Carnegie Classic:

   1.

Compete: Whether you’re brand new joining us from rush, or an
experienced dancer who’s been with us for years, we want YOU to sign-up for
Carnegie Classic! Even if you don’t have a partner, we’ll have a robust TBA
system to match you with someone to dance with. Never competed before? Then
this is the BEST time to start. Sign-up for the newcomer level, compete
right here in your home ballroom, and enjoy a first-timer discount just for
CMU ballroom members! To register, we've created a google form for you
   to fill out here.
   <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdGA6_CZDNqDpsSsJkVfARVWMnVBUqXicNSWdvyu-cVIfEJ0g/viewform>
   2.

Volunteer: We need lots of volunteers! Please try to sign-up for at
least one thing. Jobs vary in time commitment and effort, so you should be
able to pick something that works with your schedule. Fill out the form
   to volunteer here
   <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScuTpsnvL8sOU_4Y7zthM0iBfy1xU8B8t0doI3wBcsAcgTQXQ/viewform>
   .
   3.

Host: In order to make CC accessible for more people, we want to offer
housing options. If you have a floor or a couch you’d be willing to let
folks sleep on for the weekend, it could make a big difference for someone
traveling from out of state. If you’re interested, please fill out this
   form by February 5th
   <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScSf8AHKOB72Zhtzae3m0QJfCYyd7Lysw5vMEMjit1-x5cs1A/viewform>

Community Events

You should be dancing at Carnegie Classic this weekend… but if you’re not
for some tragic reason, you can check out the shoe exchange + social
happening at the Greater Pittsburgh Masonic Center on Feb. 10th from 7pm -
10pm.

Resources

Attendance:

Please fill out this form every day that you attend!
<https://forms.gle/LpB12mhtKKcjnY8W9> You can fill it out here in advance
or afterwards if you forget.

Payments:

Students owe $40, non-students owe $90 (unless you start the week of Spring
Break or later, then it is half off). This one-time payment covers all
lessons through the end of Spring (note: if you saw a typo here last week
that said “through the end of Fall”... that was incorrect, sorry). We
accept cash or check, paid at the front table. If you want to pay online/by
card, please follow these instructions
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/18_1T5WMRG1t8QDjebvwHMo8VPniSbSbFHah879Vw22g/edit?usp=sharing>to
use cashnet.

Round Videos:

Our resident videographer, Eric, records and posts videos of rounds at
https://ericonomics.me/rounds . Password is danceyourownstyle . He updates
this website regularly, so you can always check back here for more rounds
videos.

This week’s most meme-ingful message

Happy Dancing!

Abby, Brenna, Eleanor, Jamie, Jolie, Kyr, Sasha, & Saumya
