Hello Ballroom Friends,



Excited for in person lessons again? Us too! Read on for more info about
this upcoming week, especially pertaining to Rush, Tabling, New Practice
Spaces, and General Events (quite a bit of exciting stuff coming your way).



General Announcements:



Ice Skating Event at Schenley: If you’re interested and in the Pittsburgh
area, a few of us are planning a time for ice skating with Pitt students at
Schenley Park. Please fill this form

Auditions for group lesson placement: With the start of the Spring semester
also comes our first set of auditions. Auditions are held at the beginning
of each semester for returning club members in order to place them in their
relevant level for lessons in the coming semester. Auditions will be held
before Rush at 5pm on January 31st for Latin and February 2nd for Standard.
If you cannot make this audition, please send us an email as soon as
possible so we can coordinate an audition with our instructors so you can
be placed in the class that best fits your skill level.



Tabling This Week: Come table for your favorite club in the UC on Monday,
Tuesday, or Wednesday (January 31, Feb 1, and Feb 2) between classes to
help us get the word out about rush, hand out flyers, and tell people about

Newcomer Bootcamps w/ Pitt: Are you new to ballroom dancing or looking for
a quick review of ALL the dances? Look no further than our Newcomer
Bootcamps! These three-hour veteran taught sessions are designed to give
quick exposure to the core dances across all four styles. This semester we
are holding them together with the Pitt Ballroom Club! Details below!

When: 10am - 1pm on Sunday, Feb 6th and Sunday, Feb 13th.

What: Rhythm and Latin on Feb 6th. Smooth and Standard on Feb 13th.

Where: The Assembly Room at the William Pitt Student Union (University of

Pittsburgh Campus!)

Why: To quickly get up to speed with multiple dances and make new friends
in the

process! These bootcamps are especially important for newer members wishing
to

compete at Arnold, because it is likely we won't get through all of the
dances in our

regular lessons before then!

March 5-6 Arnold Competition in Columbus, Ohio (Details and sign-ups to
come after Rush)

March 19: Scotch Ball (8PM, Phipps Botanical Garden)

Scotch Ball is officially back! We invite all of CMU's undergrads, graduate
students, faculty, and alumni, as well as CMUBDC members and friends, to
join us for this year's

Scotch Ball. Wear your best gowns and suits for an evening of dancing, hors
d'oeuvres, showcases, and a chance to explore Phipps under strings of

April 1-3: USADance Amateur and Collegiate National Championships IN
PITTSBURGH!

5:55 PM Intermediate 2 Standard Auditions

6:20 PM Intermediate 1 Standard Auditions

7:00 PM - 9:00 PM Rush (American Tango, American Rumba, and Salsa)
