Hello Ballroom Friends,



For those of you new to our weekly emails, welcome! Each week, we have
quite a bit of exciting news coming your way as well as the lessons
schedule for the week. Especially after auditions and Rush, CMU ballroom
has quite a few plans. See below for more information!



General Announcements:



Arnold Registration: We will be taking a trip to the Arnold DanceSport
Classic in Columbus, OH between March 4-6! Anyone interested is welcome
(from all levels of dance)! However, registration is required. Please fill
out the Individual commitment form <https://forms.gle/pH1aMi4GMSf77sAJ7> by
February 16th and the Partnership Registration form
<https://forms.gle/nxaJKGmbVqQTFKi16> by February 23rd. There is a $60 fee
for competitors (half price for drivers). Please email McKenzie van der
Hagen (mckenziv at andrew.cmu.edu) with any questions or concerns. Also, if
you are new and considering competitions, come to our competition meet and
greet (more information below)!



Newcomer Bootcamps w/ Pitt: Are you new to ballroom dancing or looking for
a quick review of ALL the dances? Look no further than our Newcomer
Bootcamps! These three-hour veteran taught sessions are designed to give
quick exposure to the core dances across all four styles. This semester we
are holding them together with the Pitt Ballroom Club! Details below!

When: 10am - 1pm on Sunday, Feb 6th and Sunday, Feb 13th.

What: Rhythm and Latin on Feb 6th. Smooth and Standard on Feb 13th.

Where: The Assembly Room at the William Pitt Student Union (University of

Pittsburgh Campus!)

Why: To quickly get up to speed with multiple dances and make new friends
in the

process! These bootcamps are especially important for newer members wishing
to

compete at Arnold, because it is likely we won't get through all of the
dances in our

regular lessons before then!



Competition Team Meet N Greet: Interested in any competitions or just want
to see what the experience is like? Come to our meet and greet February
12th at 11:30am in the UC Danforth Conference Room.



USA Dance Chapter Valentine’s Dance: Connect a bit with the Greater
Pittsburgh Area and come to the Valentine’s Dance! On February 19th
starting at 7 at the Wightman School Community Building, Amanda Wolf will
be giving a Rumba Lesson followed by general dancing. There will also be a
mini-ballroom dance competition by CMUBDC members and more. Tickets are $5
for students, $10 for members of USA Dance, and $15 for non-members. For

Dance Projects with Christine: Christine Zona, our Standard instructor, has
2 dance projects by the end of next week. For these projects, she’s
offering half price private lessons! For more details, message Christine

March 5-6 Arnold Competition in Columbus, Ohio (Details and sign-ups to
come after Rush)

March 19: Scotch Ball (8PM, Phipps Botanical Garden)

Scotch Ball is officially back! We invite all of CMU's undergrads, graduate
students, faculty, and alumni, as well as CMUBDC members and friends, to
join us for this year's

Scotch Ball. Wear your best gowns and suits for an evening of dancing, hors
d'oeuvres, showcases, and a chance to explore Phipps under strings of
