Hello Ballroom Friends,

If you want more info regarding events, be sure to check out our facebook
page <https://www.facebook.com/CMUBDC> and team group
<https://www.facebook.com/groups/269485143143624/>!

General Announcements:

Hair/Makeup Tutorials in preparation for Ohio Star Ball: This week during
this week’s lessons, we will discuss how to do competition hairstyles and
makeup. Hair will be discussed Monday at 9:15 during social dancing, and
makeup will be covered Wednesday also at 9:15.

Returning Closet Items if necessary: If you currently have items from CMU’s
ballroom closet and do not need them for Ohio Star Ball, please return them
either to our officers or the ballroom table before lessons either on
Monday or Wednesday.

Ohio Star Ball: We are going to travel to Columbus on Nov 19-21 to compete
at Ohio Star Ball! You really do not want to miss this; it is a phenomenal
experience and is typically one of the highlights of the semester for all
who attend. We compete in the college sections during the day and watch the
professional finals at night in a black-tie attire event. The trip is
subsidized for ALL members who paid dues, regardless of enrollment status
at CMU. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPpsdVjQ-Ho.Fees and registration
will be due tonight by November 8th:

Note: People can no longer sign up for Ohio Star Ball, as the commitment
form deadline has already passed (see previous email).

November Social hosted by Pitt Ballroom: The Ballroom Club at Pitt would
like to formally invite CMU and Duquesne ballroom club members to attend
our social on November 11th! The social will be from 8-10pm in the William
Pitt Union Assembly Room! There will be a mini hustle lesson from 8-8:30
and social dancing for the remainder of the time. If you are interested in
attending, please sign up with the link below so we can give you a guest
pass to enter the building. If you do not receive a confirmation email by
Wednesday 11/10 at 9pm, please message Amy Padia through email (
AMP309 at pitt.edu) or Facebook messenger ASAP to find a different email
address to use for you. Also please reach out if you have questions! Sign
up here: https://forms.gle/ws9FMn3aDn99tvJP8

Late Rounds: Monday this week, 10:15pm. Want to get better fast? Dance
more, and do more rounds. These rounds help you get ready for competitions,
practice what you’ve learned, and will take your dancing to the next level.
We will do all 4 styles, and an extra round of Latin and Standard for the
very motivated! Especially if you are going to go to the Ohio Star Ball,
you should be coming to these, but even if not, it will help you.

Membership Dues: $40 for students. $80 for non-students. Cash or check.

Mentoring groups created: For those of you that have paid dues, we are
having a mentorship program running for the semester, split among different
houses hosted by our veterans. If you are not currently in a mentor group,
it is because you haven’t paid your dues. Pay your dues to Arthur and he
will add you to a group.

Practice Session at Christine’s Studio: Christine is hosting a supervised
practice session at Night and Day Dance Studio on Sunday, November 14 from
6:00-8:00, $5 per person. This is not for social dancing but instead mostly
to prepare for OSB. However, anyone that wants help is welcome to join.
There is limited space, so only the first 30-35 people who are planning on
going will be able to attend. Register here:
