Hi everyone,

Happy (or very sad) finals week! Read on if you want info on some future
things we have planned for break and Spring semester:

Lessons
No lessons starting this week up until the start of Spring semester. You
can still join the Zoom call, but you'll likely be alone and sadly staring
at your Zoom icon. Spring lessons will begin on February 1st! There will
likely be an in person option open for CMU students *only *that will
require you to sign up and guarantee your attendance. More info on this to
be sent out over the coming weeks.

If you'd like to access recordings of previous lessons, click here
<https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1L24AJeIT7FgO6KjBEuCadl0vlnfbC0L4?usp=sharing>.
You can access these even if you haven't been attending lessons.

(CMU BDC) Events

We are planning to have some pop-up events over break! A couple you should
keep on your radar:

*Monday, 12/21:*

*(time tbd)* Tea & Reflection Hour (previously on Zoom, now on Discord!)

Come reflect on how this semester has gone and think of increasingly
complex words to discuss the flavors of your leaf water! Think umami or..
asparagus..? Stop by if you're intrigued or concerned for my sanity.

*Friday, 1/1:*

*10 PM* A Virtual Ball Like No Other (link to be sent out)
We will be having a proper winter ball on gather.town, in a recreation of
Rangos Ballroom, with socializing and social dancing. If you aren't
familiar with gather.town, feel free to look on their website! We promise
this will be a better time than the Fall FAIR. How does one social dance on
a video call you may ask? Come and find out ;)
*Time Breakdown:*
*9:30-10 PM:* Crash course on dance basics if you are a newer dancer
*10-10:30 PM:* Crash course on social dancing on a video call
*10:30-12:30 AM:* Live music DJ'ed by Matias and an absolute blast seeing
and dancing with faces we've missed!

This event will be open to alumni, veterans, and newcomers alike, students
and nonstudents; the only requirement is that you wish you could dance with
us in person. Consider dressing up for this; let's make it a fancy classy
new-year's party! More info forthcoming, including a Facebook event and
fancy invites!

Announcements
Ballroom is (still!!) on Discord!! Come hang out with us, make friends, and
create a ballroom community across the ages (Alumni are also encouraged to
join)! We'll be posting info about upcoming events there as well as having
popup events. Here is the invite link: https://discord.gg/2AP4Ekh

I
will keep bumping this until either the entirety of this mailing list joins
or unsubscribes from these emails :) :) :) :) :))))))))))))))))))))))) :^)
:^) :^) :p D: x_x :D

(Collegiate Ballroom) Events
USA Dance has put together a few cool initiatives to keep the collegiate
ballroom scene thriving.

*Dancing Universities Facebook Group*
This group is for all members of Collegiate Social and Competitive Ballroom
Dance Clubs. Each week they will host live lessons covering a variety of
topics and taught by teachers from all over the United States. The
recordings will be posted in the group and organized by level and style.
Click here <https://www.facebook.com/groups/2735756116713400> to join the
group.

They also have a Discord group for collegiate dancers all over the US to
interact with each other. Here is the link <https://discord.gg/PTqmjpJ> to
join.

If you want to get updates and information more often than these weekly
emails, join our CMU Ballroom Facebook group
<https://www.facebook.com/groups/269485143143624>.

Happy virtual dancing (and good luck on finals!!!!!!!!!),
