[CMUBDC] Comp Team Week 2: 9/17-9/18

Lots of cool things going on this weekend!

*1. Weekend Practice: 12:30-3:30pm, Activities Room (newcomers), Andy's
(vets)*

*2. Newcomer Boot Camp Week 2 & Partner Matching*

This weekend is the second and final week of newcomer boot camp! We'll be
focusing on technique both days. I highly recommend that everyone - even
non-comp team newcomers - try to attend these sessions, even if you
couldn't make it last weekend. Technique is harder but also more rewarding
to learn than steps, and a lot of fun in larger groups :)

After Sunday practice will be the start of newcomer partner matching!
Newcomers and veterans will head down to Andy's (wooden-floored area in the
UC basement) for half an hour after practice to talk about everything
partner-related.

*3. China Shoes and Team Jackets*

At the end of *next *weekend, we'll be sending out jacket and shoe order
forms! If you don't currently own a pair of ballroom dance shoes, you
definitely want to invest in a pair, regardless of whether or not you're
competing. Use this week to ask veterans for advice on sizing!

This short video (less than 10 minutes) covers the fundamentals of good
dance posture (and frame!) in both standard and Latin. Newcomers, please
watch the video before your lessons on Saturday so we can spend more time
on cool stuff ;)
