Hi, everyone!
Hope you've had a good semester with us! Due to some unforeseen circumstances, we are now seeking an EVENTS COORDINATOR and people for the PUBLICITY TEAM for the following year. Please see below for job descriptions of each position. As an officer you have the chance to influence everything
about how the club runs, from what we teach at lessons, what lesson we offer at
different levels, what fun events we have, competitions that we go to, publicity
efforts on campus and throughout Pittsburgh, designing our website and more!
Additionally, all officers receive free membership and other benefits during
their term.
EVENTS COORDINATOR
This position requires the planning and execution of 3-4 events per semester (such as our Halloween event, Valentine's Ball, Late Nights, etc) for all club members. Creative people with good organization skills, time management, and communication are ideal for this position.
PUBLICITY TEAM
This team is responsible for publicizing club events and the club as a whole. Their goal is to increase attendance at the events and increase membership in general. This role can either be that of a designer, or as a PR person. If going for a designer role, you should be creative and have some Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator.InDesign, etc. skills. As a PR person, you should be creative, and have good organizational and communication skills.
As an officer, you will receive free membership, but will also be required to complete other duties such as tabling at lessons, setting up/cleaning up, teach some lessons, attend officer meetings, etc. An officer position also looks pretty good on resumes ;)
If this sounds like something you might want to do, please apply! Even if you don't think you meet all the requirements, give it a try, anyway! If you would like to know more about the position, you can contact the current officers holding that position, or Jackie and Tetyana (jackiez and tdolotov at andrew.cmu.edu). We will be accepting applications until Wednesday, May 4th at 11:59PM. To apply, please send your responses to the following questions, as well as descriptions of any other qualifications you feel are applicable, to ballroom at andrew.cmu.edu with the subject "Officer Application"
Questions:
1) Why do you want to be a BDC officer? Why this particular position?
2) Why would you be a good officer? Please list any relevant past experiences and qualifications.
3) Please describe recent leadership experiences that you have.
4) How would you improve the BDC overall? What would you do in your position specifically?
5) Please list other extracurricular activities that you plan to hold next year.
6) Do you have any cool event/PR ideas that you would like to share?
7) What features would you look for in a fellow co-coordinator/co-chair?
8) If applying for the designer role in the publicity team, please attach a portfolio or some samples if your work, if you have any.
Also, please include your full name, major and year, e-mail, phone number, and how long you've been in the club. If applying to more than one position, please rank them in order of preference.
Thanks,
-Tetyana
