[CMU Ballroom Dance Club]

Hello Dancers!

Happy new year and welcome back to school! It's time for  another semester
of lessons and working off all that holiday weight--lessons begin on the
first day of classes! Come by January 10th for Bronze and Newcomer lessons
from 8-10 PM in Rangos!

Minor changes in the lesson structure for the year--we've added a Newcomer
and Gold level class to the schedule! For more details, please check out our
website at www.cmubdc.org .

Mondays (7-10 PM)
Gold (7-8PM)
Bronze (8-9 PM)
Newcomer (9-10 PM)

Wednesdays (6-10 PM)
Silver (6-7 PM)
Advanced Social (7-8 PM)
Social lessons (8-10 PM)

Membership options will consist of Basic ($25/$35 non student), Silver
($35/$45), and Gold ($45/$55) for the semester, with Basic membership
including Social, Newcomer and Bronze classes; Silver membership adds Silver
and Advanced Social classes to the Basic membership; and Gold membership
includes all of the classes.

*Silver (and Gold) Lessons Tryouts!*

We highly encourage all dancers who have taken bronze lessons to try out for
Silver and dancers who have taken silver lessons to try out for Gold!
Tryouts are to ensure that lessons run smoothly and that dancers can receive
instruction at the appropriate level. If you have taken bronze (silver)
classes and/or are comfortable with syllabus steps and want to take their
dancing to the next level, come tryout! No partner necessary. The following
dances will be offered this semester in Silver and Gold:

Silver: Paso Doble, Cha-cha, Quickstep, Samba, Foxtrot

Gold: Jive, Waltz, Rumba, Tango, Samba

You may perform the steps with a partner of your choice, or with an
experienced dancer/ballroom officer. Judges will assess your ability to
adequately perform each step and the ability to dance them comfortably in a
routine of your choice. The judging will be done by a panel of advanced
dancers.

Silver Tryouts – Wednesday, January 19, 6-7 PM Peter McKenna Wright


*Dance Marathon!*

*Lastly, if you are interested, DS is holding a very special event on campus
next semester: Dance Marathon. It's a giant dance party to raise money for
the Hero's Program for terminally ill children and their families. It's a
really great cause, and its going to be a really great event! There will be
competitions, performances, and music all through the night, but of course
we need people to make this event happen. If you are interested in being
part of the Ballroom Dance Club's team for this event, please contact us at
ballroom at andrew with Dance Marathon in the subject line.
