Hi Dancers!
Hope you enjoyed the first week of lessons! We have a few important
reminders and events we would like to announce, which are VERY important
for all considering GOLD or SILVER level classes. Please read, we do not
want to have to ask you to sit out on the lesson if you are not prepared.
1. GOLD: Tryouts for Gold will be THIS Saturday, August 29th in the UC
activities room. The schedule for the tryout will be practice time from
3-3:30 with rounds in all styles (except for Paso Doble) starting at 3:30
and going till 4:30 PM.
What we look for at tryouts:
-competence in bronze and silver syllabus
-confident dancers with excellent musicality and technique
More information can be found listed on the website, www.cmubdc.org.
Make-up tryouts will be the same time next week (Saturday September 5th)
and dancers will not be allowed into the Gold lesson until successfully
passing through tryouts.
IMPORTANT: You will not be allowed to attend the Gold lessons if you
haven't tried out yet. Ballroom shoes are required, and you are highly
recommended NOT to try out if you have less than a year of ballroom dance
experience.
2. SILVER requirements:
-Bronze syllabus steps(ISTD) must be known as no bronze steps will be
reviewed during the lesson. DA's will be around to help out, but can not
teach you the entire bronze syllabus during the lesson, so please make
sure you know the dance before you come!
-We expect our silver dancers to be committed enough to get appropriate
shoes! You must wear ballroom shoes to class - street shoes are not allowed
as they do not have the needed flexibility and if you are not prepared for
the class we will, unfortunately, have to ask that you sit out.
-Girls must wear skirts for Latin in order for the instructor to examine
the girl's legwork.
These rules are in place to help you advance in your dancing and to make
all lessons run more smoothly. See you on the dance floor!
